Little Manly House
The facelift of this Sydney beachside house shows how big design differences can be made in a small period of time. The work involved in this four-storey, four-bedroom residence was cosmetic rather than structural, with the aim of establishing clearer definition between spaces. Whitewashed European oak floors were resanded and restored to their natural colour, while oak joinery was partially painted white to emphasise the shelving. The master bedroom and bathroom were reconfigured for better flow, while modifications in the kitchen included the installation of stainless-steel benchtops. The original sandstone base of the fireplace was enhanced by building a large cabinet above it to cleverly disguise the television – one of the highlights of the new joinery fitted throughout.
