Flooded Gums

Flooded Gums is a cabin that sits perched, half on a mound, half on stilts in farmland, negotiating a flood zone site in the New South Wales Hunter region.

Built by our Robert Plumb Build North team, a 15 meter long recycled hardwood bridge safely connects the home to higher ground in a landscape that is flat, low lying and prone to inundation.

The client’s brief was for extra accommodation for friends and family on their property that already has a main residence. An honest response to severe climate, Flooded Gums provides warm, moody refuge with materials embedded in their raw form, sitting harmoniously within its environment.
